I had a 3/4" lift done on a work shoe to correct my leg length discrepancy last year. I've used the shoes 5 days a week for the last year and the modified shoe is still holding up as well as the day I got it. I am very pleased and am about to send an athletic shoe in for the same procedure.

How can you do this without a last, is it not deforming or twisting the shoe. A shoemaker here in Bangkok told me, to do a correct good work you need to press a last into the shoe and stabilize the form of the shoe. OK I do not know but it makes sense to me.
